Linda was asked by Pastor Ngaleka to spend some time on Saturday afternoon with the girls aged 12-18 for a question and answer time. The girls had requested this special time with them and Mama Mills. Linda met with 6 of the girls on Saturday. It is exam time here in South Africa, so many of the girls were studying for exams. Pastor Ngaleka said there would be more of them on Sunday morning, so the discussions would continue then.
In the Xhosa culture, young people do not ask their parents or grandparents questions regarding many subjects such as dating, sex, education, or careers; and believe me, they have lots of questions and challenges. So, most of them know Mama Mills and they trust me to be honest, open, and loving with them as they ask difficult questions and challenge the differences they face with their parents and grandparents generation. We had a very good and healthy conversation during that 2 hours.
I kept them in the Word (Bible) and what Jesus teaches about our bodies and our lives. On Sunday morning, I had 22 teenage girls. I always enjoy this valuable time with the Youth because they love and trust me and I am able to help them understand that following the path that Jesus has laid out for their lives is more worthy and much more fulfilling than following the ways of the world.
